Annika Sorenstam
Sorenstam is one of the all-time greats of women's golf
Women's world number one Annika Sorenstam has filed for divorce from her husband of eight years, according to Golfweek magazine.

The divorce petition was reported to have been filed on 4 February in Orange County, North Carolina.

"They're made an amicable decision to terminate the relationship," attorney Mayanne Downs told Golfweek.

"They're going to try to keep it personal and private. That's all I'm at liberty to say."

Sorenstam's agent Mark Steinberg was unavailable for comment.

The couple married in January 1997.

Sorenstam has won 56 tournaments including seven majors, and has earned more than $15m in prize money.
