Riley hit seven birdies to surge up the leaderboard at Greensboro

Chris Riley hit a second-round 63 to surge to the top of the leaderboard at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro.

The American is level on 11 under with joint-leader Ryan Moore, who was one of several players unable to finish their rounds because of bad light.

Moore will resume his second round five under through 17 holes.

Britain's Justin Rose, who was one shot off the lead after the first round, is now four shots off the pace after shooting a 68 on day two.

Like Moore, Jeff Maggert also has one hole to play of his second round and is currently on his own, one shot behind the leaders on 10 under.

Sergio Garcia is the top-ranked European, sitting on nine under alongside Bill Haas and Chez Reavie.

The Wyndham Championship offers players the final chance to collect FedEx Cup points, with the top 125 players on the list earning a place in the play-offs.

Riley is currently 129th but his good start at Greensboro means he is on course to qualify comfortably.

He began with a bogey as he finished his delayed first round but then hit birdies on three of the front five holes.

Four more birdies followed on the inward nine, which he completed in 31 strokes.
