Surry won the opening Europro tour event of the season at Collingtree Park

Wiltshire golfer Steve Surry is hoping to continue his impressive form this season when he makes his debut at the Open at Turnberry next week.

He qualified for the event by shooting a five under par round of 66 at the Western Gailes course in Scotland.

Surry usually plays at much smaller events and told BBC Wiltshire it is easily the highlight of his career.

"It hasn't sunk in yet, it's a bit surreal to be honest but I just need to calm down and play some good golf."

He added: "I've been having a good year, I'm leading the Europro tour, and have played a few Challenge Tour events and done quite well in those.

"If you play well you've got quite a good chance of doing well, really."
