This is how the redevelopment should look when finished |
The English Open will return to the European Tour schedule next year when the tournament moves on to St Mellion in Cornwall. The resort will be the competition's new home until at least 2014.
The English Open was last held at Forest of Arden in 2002 and it is 13 years since the Cornish venue played host to a tour event.
St Mellion's owners Crown Golf recently announced a 100m redevelopment plan for the resort.
George O'Grady, the chief executive of the European Tour said: "St Mellion is a familiar name to our members and the English Open has a tradition of producing great champions.
"We look forward to Cornwall, Devon and the South West region as a whole welcoming tour competition back to the area and we congratulate Crown Golf on their re-development of the resort."
