Ashford golfer Benn Barham says Kent players will reap the benefits when the European Open is held in the county this summer. "At the moment there's not a tournament where the county's golfers can see the top players compete," Barham told BBC Radio Kent.
The London Golf Club near Brands Hatch will host the event in July.
The nearest regular tour event to the county is the PGA Championship at Wentworth in West London.
Barham said he was looking forward to playing a European Tour tournament so close to home.
"It helps when you know the course, but the expectation level also rises. I've played there a lot, but it will be set up very differently for the event in the summer."
