Ramsay relishing Augusta chance
Richie Ramsay
Ramsay won the 2006 US Amateur Championship
Scot Richie Ramsay is aiming to make a positive impact at the Masters.

The 23-year-old Aberdeen amateur will partner defending champ Phil Mickelson in the first two rounds at Augusta.

"It's a real thrill to be paired up with Phil - he's playing really well at the moment so I'm hoping to improve alongside such a good player," he said.

"Obviously I want to go out there and prove to everybody that I am capable of getting a spot at the Masters, and I'm very confident."

Ramsay became Britain's first US Amateur champion in 95 years in August 2006.

It would be great to go out there and make the cut

And he feels that the triumphant experience in the United States will help his preparations.

"It will be a great atmosphere, which I think will help me concentrate on my game and I can't wait to get started," he added.

"I went out in January with my coach Ian Rae and we had a good look at the course and worked out a strategy.

"As long as you concentrate fully on each shot then you should do well, as there are difficult holes on the course. It would be great to go out there and make the cut."
