Michelle Wie posted her worst score in a men's event to finish the second day of the 84 Lumber Classic bottom of the field, 23 shots behind the leaders.
The 16-year-old, who has only made one cut in a male tournament, carded a nine over par 81 to finish up on 14 over.
Ryan Moore and 2003 Open winner Ben Curtis lead the event on nine under, one ahead of a group of three.
England's Greg Owen is in the group a shot further back on seven under after a 68 while Justin Rose is on one under.
Three of the five members of the US team for next week's Ryder Cup taking part made the cut, although they are a long way back.
David Toms is trailing by nine shots while Chris DiMarco and Brett Wetterich just made the cut on one over.
Chad Campbell and Scott Verplank, however, will not be back for the weekend.
Wie's 36-hole total was her worst in 11 men's events.
The Hawaiian, whose only cut success was on the Asian Tour in May, never recovered after dropping six shots in her opening six holes.
Her disappointing display came just a week after finishing bottom of the field on 15 over at the European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.
"I'm not going to give up," said Wie. "I feel like I'm progressing, I'm getting better, even though my score didn't show it.
"I've just had a bad two weeks, that's it. My shots are actually going to the fairway now and they are feeling solid."
