Goosen leads six of the world's top 12 golfers in action at Wentworth |
A top-class field will line up at next week's PGA Championship to fight for the 2.9m prize pot. The European Tour's flagship event, which starts on 25 May, has increased its pot by more than 150,000 with the winner taking home 482,733.
Retief Goosen and Ernie Els head the field, which includes six of the world's top 12, at Wentworth.
The South Africans are joined by Adam Scott, Englishman Luke Donald, Jose Maria Olazabal and Henrik Stenson.
Another South African, Trevor Immelman, will also be taking part, along with all the leading Europeans - except the US-based Sergio Garcia.
Angel Cabrera returns to defend his title, while fellow former Wentworth winners Colin Montgomerie and Michael Campbell have also confirmed they will play.
The tournament sees nine major champions in action - Goosen, Els, Nick Faldo, Paul Lawrie, Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam, Olazabal, current US Open title-holder Campbell and American Ben Curtis.
Els, in fact, has been involved in major changes to the course since last October's World Match Play Championship, a tournament he missed following knee surgery.
All but one of 18 holes on Wentworth's West Course have been altered.
Live TV coverage of the PGA Championship will be on BBC Two and BBC One from 25-28 May.
