Jang beats nerves for first win
Women's British Open champion Jeong Jang
South Korea's Jeong Jang said she had to overcome a bout of final-round nerves to clinch her first professional victory at the Women's British Open.

Jang was partnered by Annika Sorenstam, but held her nerve to deny the world number one and win by four shots.

"I was very nervous at the start, I couldn't sleep last night," said Jang.

"I only got a couple of hours and got up and played on my Game Boy. I played 'Tiger Woods Golf' and I think it helped my game!"

The 25-year-old said she had benefited from the experience of her caddie Les Luark as she dealt with the pressures of leading a major tournament on the final day.

"I kept looking at the leaderboard, but my caddie kept telling me to stop it," said Jang, nicknamed JJ by her fellow golfers.

I think JJ just played incredible

Jang had previously claimed three second places in the women's tour, and she said the Royal Birkdale course had suited her game.

"I had a lot of confidence because I hit my driver low," she said.

Meanwhile, Sorenstam was magnanimous in defeat as her expected final-day charge failed to materialise.

The Swede was hoping to win her third major of the season but had to settle for a share of fifth place.

"I'm not so disappointed. I think JJ just played incredible," said Sorenstam.

"I think she would have been very hard to catch so hat's off to her. She played excellent.

"I was pretty happy with the way I played but just didn't finish good."
