Organisers of the Nissan Open are struggling to complete the tournament after rain washed out the third day.

Following poor weather on the opening two days, half the field have yet to complete 36 holes including first-round leader Brian Davis of England.

Organisers are hoping to get rounds two and three completed on Sunday but it is unclear if play could run into Monday.

"We're going to try to get 72 holes played, but the main goal is 36 holes," said tournament director Mark Russell.

"The course superintendent says he's never seen so much water."

Chad Campbell leads on nine under, three ahead of Robert Allenby while Luke Donald is on five under. Davis has still yet to play a shot in his second round.

Full money would be paid out even if the event is cut to 36 holes but it is not clear what happens if no more play at all is possible.

Davis led on his own after the only completed round so far.

The tournament could continue on Monday but the forecast is for more thunderstorms next week.
