England's Brian Davis could be forced to play 36 holes on Saturday after torrential rain disrupted round two of the Nissan Open in Los Angeles. First-round leader Davis was due to go out in the last group of the day but play was suspended due to bad light.
He will resume three shots behind American Chad Campbell, who moved to nine under after a second-round 65.
Englishman Luke Donald is tied for third after a level-par 71. Darren Clarke and Tiger Woods did not finish.
Clarke covered his six holes in level par, while Woods picked up one shot in four holes.
Robert Allenby moved up to second, three shots off the pace, after a round of 67, while fellow Australian Stephen Leaney and American Rocco Mediate joined Donald one shot further back on five under.
Only once in the tournament's 78-year history has there been a failure to complete 72 holes.

But if the forecast is accurate there is a considerable doubt over whether four rounds will be possible, even if the event went into Monday.
Davis was called to the tee at 5.45pm local time, but as he stepped forward he saw an official approaching and was told that play was being suspended.
The rain was so bad that when Jonathan Kaye and John Riegger pulled out a press tent notice said Kaye was a non-swimmer, Riegger an aqua-phobic.
"Honestly, I thought we wouldn't start," said leader Campbell after his round.
"But the course was great. I gave myself a lot of chances and was able to make a lot of putts for a change."
Of the other Britons who completed their rounds, Paul Casey and Graeme McDowell both missed the cut.
Justin Rose's 68 for level par could squeeze him through and Mansfield's Greg Owen, third at Pebble Beach last week, shot a 67 to join him.
