 Rory McIlroy will play for the Ireland senior team at Southport |
Rory McIlroy will win his first senior cap for Ireland in next week's amateur European Team Championship at the Hillside Golf Club in Southport. The Holywood teenager has been named in the Irish team which will be captained by Brian McElhinney of North West.
Warrenpoint's Jim Carvill, Darren Crowe (Dunmurry), Michael McGeady (North West) and Sean McTernan (Co Sligo) are the other members of the six-man panel.
McIlroy has won the Irish Close and West of Ireland amateur titles.
