Davies leads Australia's Rachel Teske by three shots |
England's Laura Davies will take a three-shot lead into Monday's rain-delayed final round of the Women's Australian Open in Sydney. Almost five hours of play were lost due to heavy rain on Sunday and darkness forced an overnight suspension with Davies on four under with six to play.
But Davies said the tournament should have been cut to 54 holes.
"A Monday finish is a real anti-climax. There will be no interest. But we just have to do as we are told," she said.
Davies started the day two shots clear of Australia's Rachel Teske but quickly dropped a shot at the fourth.
But she fired back-to-back birdies at the ninth and 10th to go three clear before play was called off at Concord Golf Club.
England's Trish Johnson moved into a tie for fifth when she covered the 14 holes in two-under-par.
Johanna Head was the other Briton in the top 10 after completing a 69 for six-over.
