Woods was a record 17 under par for the tournament which gave him victory by 14 strokes over Justin Leonard and Davis Love III.

Wednesday's 11-under round also broke the course record at the 7,081-yard oceanside Poipu Bay Golf Course on the Hawaian island of Maui.

The 61 also tied Woods' personal best for an 18-hole tournament round.

Love shot 69, while Leonard closed with a 72 in the 36-hole event which is for the year's Major champions.

PGA winner Rich Beem finished last at one-over 145 after a second-round 73.

With Woods winning two Majors and British Open champion Ernie Els withdrawing from the event, Love and Leonard gained invitations based on their finishes in those Majors.

Woods, the PGA player of the year and the tour's money leader, earned $400,000 of the $1m purse.

Love and Leonard each received $225,000 and Beem $150,000.

"I enjoyed it and I really played well," said Woods.

"I just hit a lot of good shots. Starting out, I did exactly what you need to do when you have a three-shot lead.

"I needed to go out there and play a good, solid front nine and I just got on a roll.

"It just kept going - making shots, aiming at my spots and I was knocking down my putts.

"It's a lot of fun when everything works like that."
