All the news from Saturday's back pages
The early editions of Saturday's newspapers are still firmly focused on Terry Venables, Peter Ridsdale and Leeds' current crisis.

The windmill of woe keeps on turning at Elland Road with the situation worsening dramatically for Ridsdale.

Both the Daily Express and the Mirror reveal that the Leeds chairman has been hit by death threats in the wake of Jonathan Woodgate's 9m move to Newcastle.

Angry fans are said to have left Ridsdale so afraid he has been placed under the watch of 24-hour bodyguards.

The Sun, meanwhile, keeps its focus solely on Venables, intimating that only the remaining 2m of his contract had kept him at the Premiership side.

"The Dough must go on," the paper states, pointing out that, at 1312 GMT on Friday, Venables had said, "I need time to consider my future", before stating 15 minutes later that, "Now I think about it I want to stay".

Venables could yet make an exit stage left, according to the Daily Star, which believes the ex-England boss has committed himself to the club as long as striker Alan Smith and goalkeeper Paul Robinson are not sold.

Woodgate hogs the back of the Daily Mail after his switch to Newcastle.

There, the England defender insists he is not racist, aiming to put behind him his controversial court case of 2001.

The Independent takes the post-Woodgate Leeds situation further using two contrasting press conferences to compare the delight and dismay of the Premiership.

The glum faces of Ridsdale and Venables are contrasted by smiling Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson smiling at his new signing.

The back pages of the Times and the Guardian also delve into Leeds' predicament, while the Daily Telegraph rather bizarrely takes an athletics line.

In his column, former sprinter Michael Johnson questions the decision by Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones to team up with Charlie Francis, the former coach of Ben Johnson.
