Lincoln Ladies boss Wilson in World Cup striker search

Lincoln Ladies FC

Lincoln Ladies manager Rod Wilson says he will take his search for a striker to the World Cup in Germany.

The Lady Imps go into the summer break having scored only twice in their first seven Women's Super League matches.

Wilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "I will be off to the World Cup now, looking for strikers there and everywhere else.

"We probably need more than one the way it's going. We play good football and we're organised but we keep conceding soft goals and losing by the odd goal."

Lincoln have signed Northern Ireland international midfielder Rachel Furness from Premier League champions Sunderland, but Wilson said: "She's versatile and can score but she's not an out-and-out striker."

Thursday's 1-0 defeat by Chelsea leaves Lincoln second from bottom on five points at the halfway stage of the Women's Super League season.

Wilson added: "We had most of the play but didn't take the few chances we had.

"We've got to reorganise and come back and try to get up the league. We're just not scoring enough goals, no-one's hammered us but we've got to do better."
