Women's Super League leaders Birmingham City ended the first half of the season with a disappointing goalless draw against bottom club Liverpool.

Second-placed Arsenal were held 2-2 by Bristol Academy in their dress rehearsal for next week's FA Cup final.

Chelsea moved to within a point of the Gunners as Dani Buet's goal gave them a 1-0 win over Lincoln.

Toni Duggan's first-half strike gave Everton their opening WSL victory as they beat Doncaster Belles 1-0.

That win lifts the Toffees up to fourth place.

On another night of good crowds there were 1,138 at Bristol, 866 at Doncaster, 517 at Birmingham and 493 at Lincoln.

Birmingham City 0-0 Liverpool

It could have been worse for Blues as Reds defender Nicky Twohig missed an 18th-minute penalty, goalkeeper Marie Hourihan turning the shot past the post.

The home side then created but wasted a hat-full of chances, with England colleagues Karen Carney and Rachel Williams among the main culprits.

Bristol Academy 2-2 Arsenal

In front of the League's second highest attendance of the season, Arsenal were stunned by Corinne Yorston's late equaliser after dominating the game.

The Gunners ran the home side ragged in the first half yet at the interval led only by striker Ellen White's 37th minute opener.

White had missed a couple of earlier chances while both defender Jennifer

Beattie and midfielder Steph Houghton had hit the woodwork.

Bristol goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain had also made a great save from striker Julie Fleeting, but she could not keep out White's well struck shot.

After being outplayed before the break Academy hit back early in the second half and equalised through defender Grace McCatty's close range 54th minute shot.

But the Gunners were back in front three minutes later, left winger Rachel Yankey scoring direct from a corner.

Chamberlain made excellent saves from striker Danielle Carter and midfielder Kim Little as the visitors looked to wrap up the game.

But two minutes from time Arsenal keeper Emma Byrne failed to hold a Jess Fishlock cross and captain Yorston bundled the ball home to claim a point.

Lincoln 0-1 Chelsea

Lincoln edged the first half possession but were unable to create any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities.

Buet won the game on the hour, the midfielder spearing a low 25 yard free-kick into the corner of the net.

Doncaster Rovers Belles 0-1 Everton

Duggan put Everton in front with a 28th minute drive that goalkeeper Helen Alderson should have saved but allowed the ball to creep under her body.

Midfielder Michelle Hinnigan missed a simple chance to double the lead in the first minute of the second half, shooting wide from inside the six-yard box.

Striker Natasha Dowie was denied a 68th minute goal when defender Victoria Williams cleared her 15 yard shot off the goal line.

And although the Belles produced some late pressure they rarely looked like salvaging a point.
