Mansell is a product of United's centre of excellence

Oxford United ladies youngster Sadie Mansell has been called into the Wales Under-17 squad for the upcoming European Championships in Macedonia.

The central midfielder was born in Wales but is now based in Oxfordshire.

United's girls centre of excellence director Richard Blackmore said: "It is great for Sadie and fully deserved.

"She is an outstanding prospect and a very good player. It is obviously a big honour for her and something she will never forget."

"She has played for Wales a couple of times already but to be involved in a major tournament will be a great experience.

"It is also a great thing for the girls centre of excellence. We are growing each season and developing some very good footballers.

"Sadie's call up is a real boost for us and recognition of all of the hard work that the coaches and staff are putting in to make the girls centre of excellence such a success."
