York City boss Gary Mills ready to play waiting game
This summer is Gary Mills' first pre-season at York City
York City manager Gary Mills will not be rushed into assembling a squad for next season.
He has started talks with players and is looking to strengthen but he told BBC Radio York he will take his time.
"It's about me getting the right squad and I've already stated I'm not going to be rushed into anything," he said.
"If I end up losing a couple of players because they want answers straight away then so be it, because I've got to make sure I get it right."
Eight players had already been given contracts for next season before the end of the current one, and Jamal Fyfield was added to that group after agreeing a new one-year deal.
Mills added: "I'm not going on holiday so I don't need to rush and get players signed up before I go.
"It's going to be one long, hard thinking process for me so that I bring in the right kind of player and make sure everything is right to come back on 1 July."
