York City have agreed a new one-year deal with young defender Jamal Fyfield.
The 22-year-old, who joined York from Maidenhead last September, returned to his former club on loan after failing to get into City's first team.
City boss Gary Mills told BBC Radio York: "I rate Jamal, but this season has been a learning curve for him.
"It's been difficult but, having worked with him, I've seen what he's about. Next season he'll be a valuable asset to what I'm looking to do."
Fyfield has played at both centre-half and on the left wing for the Minstermen in recent games.
