Foyle took York City to the FA Trophy final at Wembley last season
York City face an FA Trophy second round replay after a goalless draw against Newport County at Spytty Park.
Minstermen manager Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York: "We started OK for the first five minutes and then we started getting a little bit negative.
"We put the keeper under pressure on a poor pitch. That's what I couldn't accept. All of a sudden we gave them a lifeline and chance after chance."
The winner of the tie will face Corby Town on Saturday, 30 January.
Foyle added: "Ingham brought some good saves off but other than that I thought defensively we looked poor.
"I said to the lads there at half-time it was eleven players that never turned out in the first-half. But I'm not going to criticise them too much because they've run a lot of miles lately and worked very hard," he added.
"But sometimes you play badly and you haven't lost a game of football and that's a good sign. But we were off all over the pitch tonight."
The result ensured that Newport's unbeaten run at home this season continued.
