Brodie committed to York campaign

Richard Brodie
Brodie joined York from Newcastle Benfield in 2007.

Leading goalscorer Richard Brodie insists he is fully focused on York's FA Cup and league campaigns despite talk of interest from other clubs.

The striker scored a penalty in the 2-1 FA Cup win at Cambridge United to help put York into the third round.

He told BBC Radio York: "People say people are watching me, I don't know that for definite. I wouldn't be human if I didn't want to better my career.

"But at the moment I'm 100% concentrating on playing for York."

The 22-year-old added: "A lot of clubs haven't got the money now so they're looking down in the lower leagues for goalscorers and they're hard to come by.

"Fortunately for me everything is flying in at the minute.

"York is the only professional club I've ever been at. I love the club, I love the place, I love the fans and at the minute I'm 100% committed to the club.

"Getting promoted with York City is what I'm looking to do. We've come close so many times."

Brodie is now looking forward to playing for York in the third round of the FA Cup.

He said: "I haven't been this far at all.

"I think I came on as a substitute in the first round against Havant & Waterlooville two years ago and I was away on loan at Barrow last year but this is just absolutely fantastic."
