York City are targeting a variety of ways to increase their income to offset annual losses of up to £400,000.
The accounts for the year ending June 2009 show a £30,000 profit, but only because of a run to the FA Trophy final and the sale of Martyn Woolford.
The club's finance director Terry Doyle said promotion would help.
"To run a competitive Conference club, (we face) a funding shortfall each year of between 300 and 400 thousand pounds," he said.
"By competitive Conference club, that means retaining a full-time squad, the training facilities we've got, the training ground and the infrastructure that we've fought so hard to retain since York were relegated.
If the home support holds out at 2,500 that does take some of the pressure off

"Financial benefits from the proposed move to a new ground will depend on the facilities we've got and the revenue we can raise when we move, but would allow us to have several other sources of income.
Speaking about promotion back to the Football League, he added: "My understanding is that the central funding income would be around ten times what it currently is in the Conference.
"Generally speaking in the Football League, the opposition you play bring with them considerably more away support and that contributes to an increase in income.
"The gate on Saturday at 2,600 we were very pleased with, when you consider Ebbsfleet were (on results) bottom of the league.
"If the home support holds out at 2,500 that does take some of the pressure off."
