York City are preparing for their first pre-season friendly, against Leeds United at Kitkat Crescent on Sunday.

Martin Foyle's squad have been back in training since the start of July and the City boss told BBC Radio York they are ready to have a run out.

"They like to get out on the pitch and get a good 45 minutes under their belt. Everything's gone fine," he said.

"Injury-wise we've got one or two little twinges but nothing other than expected at this stage of the season."

Foyle said he is pleased with how things have progressed so far in the close season.

Just 22 players, a game of football and get off the pitch without any injuries.

"The lads have worked very hard and they've certainly come back fitter than what they did in our day so we can move on to the next thing," he said.

The Minstermen boss intends to give his players half a game each against the League One side.

"It's important that nobody plays more than 45 minutes," he added. "There will be a few trialists coming in so I can have a look at them.

"So it's a good exercise for York and 45 minutes each for everybody.

Meanwhile City's teenage striker Adam Boyes has joined Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old has signed a two year deal.
