McGurk left the field after just six minutes against Oxford
York City will not risk defender David McGurk in Saturday's FA Trophy third round tie at Kidderminster.
The 26-year-old has not played since he picked up a calf injury in the previous round at Oxford United.
"He's pain free now and he's done all his leg strengthening and a little bit of jogging and running," manager Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York.
"But I think why should I throw him in for just one game only for him to break down again?"
However Foyle said McGurk is not far away from fitness.
He said: "I'm just going to make sure he's definitely right. He'll be 100% fit for the Mansfield game."
It would be nice to give somebody something to cheer about. The club needs it and I certainly want to do well in it

Foyle will also be without four other players for the trip to Kidderminster. Adam Smith, Christian Smith, Levi Mackin and Simon Brown are all cup tied but Foyle said he accepts the situation.
"There's no point in moaning about it because I knew the situation when I brought them in.
"But they were the only ones at the time that we could get our hands on that I thought would come here and play for myself first and also the club."
Meanwhile Foyle said he wants the cup run to continue for the sake of everyone at the club.
"It would be lovely for everyone concerned with the club, especially the supporters who have probably travelled everywhere over the last few weeks.
"It would be nice to give somebody something to cheer about. The club needs it and I certainly want to do well in it."
