York City have signed teenage trialist Tom Hirst after he impressed while playing for the club's reserve team during the week.
The 18-year-old right-back was an apprentice at Rotherham United and has also had a spell at Hull City.
Manager Colin Walker told BBC Radio York: "He's a breath of fresh air. He's young and he runs about.
"He is quick and I think he will add a lot of pressure to the other people in the team for a place."
Hirst is expected to be available for Saturday's game against Salisbury.
