York City have signed Chris Hall on loan from Gainsborough Trinity until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old left-sided midfielder has previously spent time playing at Burton Albion.

York City manager, Colin Walker, told BBC Radio York: "He's got plenty of experience playing at this level for Burton so he knows what it's about."

Hall, who is out of contract in the summer, will be available for City's game against Ebbsfleet on Saturday.

"He has a very good pedigree. He'd been at Burton a few years. He went back to Gainsborough because he had a serious injury and he needed a full season of playing football," Walker added.

What the players have got to see is that these players (like Hall) may be my future players.

"He's done that now. I've kept tabs on him about four or five times. I spoke to the manager of Gainsborough, then I spoke to the player and everything's happened. He'll train tomorrow."

After a poor performance on Tuesday against Northwich, Walker hopes that his new signing will keep other players in his squad on their toes.

"What the players have got to see is that these players [like Hall] may be my future players. If they want to be the future of York City they've got to do something about it."
