Skiverton is hoping McCarthy stays until the end of the season
Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton has praised the contribution of his loan signings keeper Alex McCarthy and midfielder Shaun McDonald.
McCarthy recently signed a month-long extension, while McDonald has agreed to stay until the end of the season.
"Alex has been fantastic for us this season and not just on the pitch," Skiverton told BBC Somerset.
"Shaun has enhanced his reputation and we're really pleased to have captured these types of signings for Yeovil."
McCarthy, 20, arrived at Huish Park in July from Reading and has played a key part in keeping Yeovil away from the relegation zone.

"Alex is very similar to what we had with Chris Weale last season and when you need your keeper to make two or three good saves he has stepped up to the mantle," said Skiverton.
"He's always trying to gain that extra edge and is often up the local gym looking after himself."
Swansea City's MacDonald is in his second spell with the Glovers having played for them for a month last season and the 21-year-old has attracted admirers from a number of clubs.
"We had stiff competition for Shaun and we had a lot of teams in and around us who came back in for him," said Skiverton.
"He played fantastic for us and by the time he went back [to Swansea] it seemed like every man and his dog was calling up for him.
"It shows you the hard work we've been doing behind the scenes to get these players re-signed."
