Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has confirmed the club are giving a trial to former West Ham winger Shaun Newton.

The 32-year-old, released by Leicester in January, could play for the reserves on Tuesday night against Bournemouth.

Slade told BBC Somerset he is also keen to sort out the future of key Yeovil players like captain Terry Skiverton.

"You have to look at the bigger picture," he said. "The likes of Terry Skiverton are pivotal to anything we do in terms of restructuring."

"It's important that we get his contract signed up and done and dusted."
