Wycombe Wanderers have extended the loan deal of Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Stuart Lewis.

The 23-year-old, who was set to return to Victoria Road on Wednesday, will now continue to play for the Chairboys until 23 January.

Lewis has featured three times since arriving at Adams Park, twice in League Two and once in the FA Cup.

He joined Dagenham from Gillingham in the summer and has made 11 appearances for John Still's side.

Meanwhile Wycombe winger Gareth Ainsworth has praised former team-mate David Beckham after the 35-year-old won the Lifetime Achievement award at BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2010.

The pair played together at Preston in 1995 during Beckham's one-month loan spell at Deepdale from Manchester United.

"I'm delighted for him, he deserves it. He's a fantastic pro, but it's not only what he does on the field that earns him the respect. His work away from football shows what type of guy he is," said 35-year-old Ainsworth.

"Despite me being roughly the same age as him, I look up to him massively. He's a real credit to the game.

"He was really quiet when he joined Preston, but he had a confidence on the pitch.

"I remember he scored direct from a corner and a free-kick in his first two games. He was a class above, despite only being a young lad. He was awesome to play with."
