Wycombe and Wasps step up the search for a new stadium
Wasps and Wycombe are looking to leave Adams Park
The search for a site for a new 20,000 seat community stadium and sports village in High Wycombe is being stepped up.
Wycombe Wanderers, Wasps Rugby and Wycombe District Council have agreed to collaborate on the project.
Up to £500,000 has been set aside to move the investigatory work forward.
Owner of Wycombe FC and Wasps RFC Steve Hayes told BBC Three Counties Radio: "We're looking at a number of sites in the Wycombe area.
"We've been talking for a number of years with the council.
"Now we've secured a partnership and got a collaboration agreement in place, and it will take another year to say which is the ideal site."
The Agreement will see Wycombe District Council working with Wycombe Sports Developments Limited (WSDL), a special purpose vehicle created to carry forward the vision for a new stadium. Each party will invest up to £250,000.
Assessment studies will be prepared on a number of sites within the district. Key criteria are that sites must be within the District, accessible, and of an appropriate size to support the range of facilities required for successful modern day sports stadia.
