Roberts has scored three goals for Wrexham this season |
Wrexham's Neil Roberts will have ankle surgery on Wednesday which will keep him out of action for at least a month. Striker Roberts returned to face MK Dons on Saturday after being out since early September with ankle trouble.
But an strong tackle inflamed the injury again and the Wrexham captain has been advised to have surgery to remove some debris.
"The specialist said he would operate to clear out some floating chips," Roberts told the club's website.
"It needs doing at will probably keep me out for between four to six weeks."
Dragons manager says Roberts' absence hastens the need to bring in a striker on loan.
"I will keep looking, but it's frustrating at the moment," said Smith.
"I lost out on a player [on Monday] after his club had agreed but the player had been banned from driving and didn't fancy coming to us because of the distance he lives away."
