Wrexham seek cover for Roberts
Wrexham striker Neil Roberts
Roberts was taken off after just six minutes on Saturday
Wrexham manager Denis Smith says he will look to sign a striker on loan this week to cover for Neil Roberts.

Dragons captain Roberts could be out for a month after injuring his ankle in Saturday's win over Swindon.

"I'm short now. I'll have to look in the market for another striker if Neil's going to be out for a length of time," Smith told BBC Wales Sport.

"But everybody's looking for them. I've got Mark Williams who can do that role but he's still very young."

Roberts re-joined Wrexham over the summer after moving from the Racecourse in 2000 to join Wigan for 450,000.

The former Wales international was immediately made club captain, and Smith says he has been instrumental in Wrexham's seven-match unbeaten start to the season.

"Neil's been immense since the start of the season; fabulous in the dressing room and great on the pitch. We are going to miss him," he said.

"But I thought Chris Llewellyn took on his role extremely well (against Swindon) and worked hard. I was also pleased with Jon Newby."

Wrexham are already without striker Lee McEvilly (foot) until Christmas, while Smith is waiting for Juan Ugarte to prove his fitness before offering the Spaniard a contract.
