Ben Foster is the only fit goalkeeper at Wrexham (SportPixs) |
Wrexham goalkeeper Andy Dibble has aggravated the thigh injury that has kept him out for the past month. "It's not as bad as the first time but will put my recovery back several weeks," Dibble told the club's website.
Wrexham were left with just one fit goalkeeper - on-loan Ben Foster - after youngster Michael Jones broke his arm in a training ground accident.
Further signings are complicated as the club is in administration, but manager Denis Smith is set to seek permission.
Twenty-one-year-old Foster has impressed at the Racecourse since arriving from Stoke at the end of last month.
"I've used six goalkeepers this year and at the moment there's a fight for who sits on the bench between [midfielder] Scott Green and [striker] Hector Sam," Smith told BBC Sport Wales. "We either have to gamble with one fit keeper as we did against Walsall, or try to bring in another signing.
"But if I even want to spend 5p I have to take it to the administrators, the league... and the United Nations, I think!"
Clubs in administration are barred from making new signings, but the Football League can give special dispensation for the specialist goalkeeping position.
Wrexham have benefited from that rule this season with the Foster signing and the ill-fated recruitment of Xavier Valero.
