Crisis-club Wrexham's problems have increased after goalkeeper Andy Dibble aggravated a thigh injury in the 4-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. After a scan on Tuesday he is expected to be out for at least two weeks.
The 39-year-old is the only senior goalkeeper at the club after Matt Baker moved to MK Dons last month.
Wrexham are barred from signing new players as they are in administration, but could appeal to the league as exceptions have been made for keepers.
The Dragons have two teenage, youth trainee shot-stoppers on their books, Danny Evans and Michael Jones.
Defender Scott Green took over between the sticks for the final two minutes at Hillsborough as Wrexham had already used their three substitutes.
