Keeper Baker makes Dons switch

Wrexham's second-choice goalkeeper Matt Baker has agreed to join League One rivals Milton Keynes Dons.

Baker, who turns 25 on Saturday, is the second signing for new Dons boss Danny Wilson, who took Wigan defender Paul Mitchell on loan last week.

The six-footer was first choice for the England Semi-Pro team when joining Wrexham from non-League Hereford.

"Danny has offered Matt the chance of first-team football with Milton Keynes," Wrexham boss Denis Smith said.

"We would like to stress this has nothing to do with any pressure people might perceive to have been put on us by entering administration."

Wrexham have senior keeper Andy Dibble back in the starting line-up following injury and Smith told the club's official website that youth trainee Michael Jones will now provide back-up.

"I have spoken to my goalkeeping coaches and they feel that 'Carrots' has a chance of making the grade, so this could be his opportunity," Smith added.

"Matt has proved a more than capable deputy for the injured Dibbs but was only on a one-year deal.

"So with his contract up this summer anyway, I do think this was best for all parties concerned.

"He has played well for us and I thank him for his efforts on our behalf."

Jones will now step up from Wrexham's Youth Alliance team to the senior bench for Saturday's visit by Hartlepool United.

Baker, meanwhile, will be involved for the Dons in Saturday's trip to Stockport County after taking the squad number 25 shirt.
