Kightly hopes to play a part in Wolves' play-off push (Getty)
Wolves winger Michael Kightly has come safely through his first competitive match since having ankle surgery.
The 22-year-old played 45 minutes of the reserve team's 3-1 victory at Oldham on Wednesday, almost five months after his last Championship appearance.
"I feel okay today although I was blowing a bit towards the end of my half," Kightly told the club's website.
"I didn't have any problem with the ankle at all. There was one heavy tackle on me but it felt strong."
Kightly is now determined to play a role in Wolves' push for the play-offs, although he knows he is short of his usual sharpness.
"I'm not match fit enough to start a game at the moment but I feel ready for the bench. However, that will be the gaffer's decision and I've got to remember the team are doing well at the moment," he added.
