Blue Square Premier strugglers Woking have sacked manager Phil Gilchrist and put youth coach Graham Baker in charge for the rest of the season.

Gilchrist, 35, was originally appointed as assistant to former boss Kim Grant, and had been in permanent charge at the Kingfield Stadium since 23 September.

He managed just seven league wins in 32 games and leaves with the Cards 22nd in the table, three points from safety.

Gilchrist's assistant Neil Lyne has also left the club.

Baker, 50, is a former Southampton, Manchester City and Fulham midfielder who has been a coach with Woking since 2005.

Along with Neil Smith, Baker had a brief spell as the Cards' joint caretaker manager when Glenn Cockerill left the club in March 2007.
