Wigan chief Brenda Spencer steps down after 25 years

Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic chief executive Brenda Spencer has decided to retire after 25 years with the club.

Sunday's visit to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea will mark the end of her association with Dave Whelan's outfit.

Spencer joined the Latics in 1986, first working alongside former chairman Bill Kenyon.

She said: "To think we are going to be in the Premier League for a sixth season is testament to all that's been achieved at this club."
