All-rounder Hogg signed for Lancashire in 2001 |
Seam-bowler Kyle Hogg has praised the competition for places amongst the young Lancashire players in the side. The 25-year-old took 3-44 on day two of the championship match versus Somerset at a weather-affected Old Trafford. Hogg told BBC Radio Manchester: "It's good to get in the team. I think that's half the battle this year, getting in the side. "Then it's a matter of proving you should be in the team because we've got a lot of good bowlers," he added. "Anybody can get the occasional game. It's a matter of proving when you get in the team that you deserve to be there. "For a lot of us, the target is getting there and staying there. If you do that, then you know you should be on a good run, you should be taking wickets. Hogg continued: "I think that's always been the hardest thing for a lot of the younger bowlers - playing a prolonged spell in the team. "You always want to get wickets as a bowler, but the most important thing for us, that's to say what we try to do, is to bowl as a unit."
