Wigan have hired a JCB snow plough and bought seven tonnes of grit to try and avoid a second postponement in six days against Blackburn on Boxing Day.
Icy conditions around the DW Stadium prompted fears for spectators and forced Monday's clash with Bolton to be called off, despite a playable pitch.
"We are doing everything in our power to try and keep the game played," said chief executive Brenda Spencer.
"At this stage we are very confident the game will be played."
It is believed the Latics have spent a five-figure sum in their bid to beat the big freeze.
