Jewell has also managed Bradford and Sheff Wed |
Wigan manager Paul Jewell has agreed a new five-year contract with the club. Jewell, 41, has told Latics chairman Dave Whelan he will sign the deal as soon as his assistant Chris Hutchings also agrees a new contract.
Whelan said: "We've agreed a new contract with Paul Jewell and it's just about him signing the paperwork now."
Last season Jewell confounded expectations by keeping Wigan in the Premiership in their first season and guiding them to the League Cup final.
Jewell is currently working for BBC Radio Five Live as a pundit at the World Cup.
