Lewer will leave Weymouth next week after three months in charge

Outgoing Weymouth manager Alan Lewer has revealed his fears for the future of the cash-strapped club.

Chief executive Gary Calder is leaving the Terras as major investment is required and players, who have not been paid in 2009, are also set to depart.

"I told the board I'd look after today and next Saturday," Lewer told BBC Radio Solent after the 3-0 home defeat by Rushden in the Blue Square Premier.

According to Lewer, the Dorset club needs up to �150,000 to survive.

"The situation is that the club must raise between �15-�25,000 on Tuesday, but that's really just a drop in the ocean," added Lewer.

"The players have been magnificent - they can only come out of this with credit.

"Hopefully someone will come in and I wish them all the best with it.

"As long as the football club is saved, whatever league they play in, that's what the fans want - which is only right."
