Beavon guarded on Terras future

Stuart Beavon
Beavon has taken his goal tally for the season into double figures

Weymouth striker Stuart Beavon is open-minded on his future.

Beavon has been the subject of recent transfer talk with League Two side Bournemouth and Blue Square Premier rivals Cambridge United known admirers.

He increased his season's tally to 11 goals with both strikes in the 2-0 win at Kidderminster on Saturday.

The ex-Didcot man, 24, told BBC Radio Solent: "All I'm going to say is that I'm still at Weymouth and I'm going to give 100% while I'm here."

The world is his oyster. Whatever he does, he will be a benefit to anybody

Weymouth manager Alan Lewer on Stuart Beavon

When asked if he expected to be a Weymouth player in the months to come Beavon added: "I don't know, who knows, I couldn't tell you that."

Manager Alan Lewer is philosophical about the situation, with Beavon's contract due to expire in the summer.

"I think Stuart's got a lot of time for [assistant manager] Marcus Browning and myself. Since he's come here, he's lost a stone and a half in weight, and his body fat content has gone down unbelievably so.

"He's never been coached since he came from Didcot. I believe that the boy is ready to go to another level. He's got a lot of people after him and he's got to make the right decision for his career.

"The world is his oyster really. He can wait here until the summer and produce performances like that which will highlight other clubs or he can make a decision over the clubs that are after him now.

"Whatever he does, I'm sure he will be a benefit to anybody."
