Striker Brett Pitman scored the only goal direct from a corner as Bournemouth checked Shrewsbury's promotion push at Dean Court.

Keeper Luke Daniels was completely deceived by Pitman's 20th minute delivery as the ball flew into the net.

Pitman had two chances to extend the lead but fired over the bar and then failed to convert Jake Thomson's cross.

Darren Moss headed against the bar with Shrewsbury's best effort but was then sent off for kicking out at Pitman.
