Bednar had surgery when Albion's promotion season ended
West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar says he is delighted with his progress after making a goal-scoring return on Saturday from hernia surgery.
Czech international Bednar, 27, scored Albion's second goal in a 3-0 win at Kidderminster and said he feels great.
"It's fine after the operation. Everything is cool and I am working hard," Bednar told the club's website.
"I want to be really ready and there are a lot of hard days in front of us but it was nice to play a game."
Bednar went under the knife after helping the Baggies secure their return to the Premier League in May and he knows there is much work to do before he can think about their opening day game at Chelsea on August 14.
"I need to get through all five weeks without injury and I always think it's more a mental thing in pre-season because it's hard," he said.
"I did a little bit over the summer but now we have four more weeks of really hard work and I think that will be enough because of the way we train now.
"If the guys stay fit and don't get injured we will be ready for the Premier League."
