West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson was impressed with his side's resilience in their 2-2 draw at promotion rivals Newcastle on Monday.

Olsson opened the scoring for the Baggies, who suffered a 3-1 home defeat by Nottingham Forest last time out.

"I think everyone knows we're a good footballing side," Olsson told BBC WM.

"We wanted to show that we also have the attitude and desire to cope with the physical aspect of this league, and I think we definitely showed that."

Olsson said Albion were happy with their reward of a point despite having led twice in the game.

It's nice to play against them again, they're a good side and it's always nice to test yourself against good opponents

"We said before, one point at St James', I think we would have taken it.

"It's difficult to come here but I think we put up a great display and we were a bit unlucky not to go away with three points."

The clubs meet again in the FA Cup fourth round at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Olsson added: "It's nice to play against them again, they're a good side and it's always nice to test yourself against good opponents.

"We've played two games against them so far this season, maybe at home we were unlucky not to take three points, and [away] as well, so let's hope it's third time lucky."
