Cummings has been with Chelsea since he was 12

West Brom have signed Chelsea youngster Shaun Cummings as cover for injured right-back Gianni Zuiverloon.

The 20-year-old arrives at The Hawthorns on a one-month loan after Zuiverloon suffered a hamstring injury at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Dutchman's absence left West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo without a specialist right-back at his disposal.

Cummings spent last season working with Di Matteo at MK Dons, where he made 35 appearances for the League One outfit.

The defender could make his first outing for the Baggies at Peterborough on Tuesday.

Di Matteo moved quickly to sign him after Zuiverloon was ruled out of the trip.

The West Brom manager told BBC WM: "Gianni will be out for at least a couple of weeks, we'll scan him to see how much damage he has."
