West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace insists the club do not have to sell their best players to balance the books. The futures of defender Curtis Davies and striker Diomansy Kamara are in doubt and Peace has admitted bids have been made for some players.
But he told his club's website: "We don't need to sell anyone. No fire sales need to take place.
"If we sell anyone it will be because it suits us. It obviously depends on what the manager wants to do."
Baggies skipper Davies has been linked with a move to Tottenham while Kamara is belived to be a target for Middlesbrough.
West Brom's defeat to Derby in the Championship play-off final did not help the club's cause to keep their star palyers.

But, while there are set to be departures, they will depend on manager Tony Mowbray's assessment of who he wants to keep to launch another promotion assault next season.
Peace added: "It obviously depends on what the manager wants to do from a football point of view.
"The manager has told me he wants to freshen the squad and bring some new faces in."
If some of West Brom's leading players do depart Peace says funds will be made available to strenthen after any exits.
"If we sell a player with a lot of value then we would seek to reinvest that back into the squad in as sensible a way as possible," said Peace.
