BBC Sport understands that Celtic are also interested in the 27-year-old.
The Scottish club have been linked with Koumas and his Baggies team-mate, forward Diomansy Kamara.

"One or two players will go and one or two will come in - that's football," said Mowbray.
"We have a lot of players who see themselves as Premiership players.

Wales international Koumas had an outstanding season for Albion and will hold talks with Mowbray and West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace before making any decision.
"You wouldn't believe how much I want to have a break now and then decide what I'm going to do in the summer," he said.
"I've got a lot of thinking to do. I'll have a meeting with the manager and the chairman and see what is happening."
